Yikes! Rihanna's 'Savage X Fenty' Line Sued For Over $1 Million
Rihanna’s lingerie line Savage X Fenty has to pay customers a big fine after they have accused the company of defrauding them.
The company, which launched in 2018, has to pay $1.2 million. According to reports, Lavender Lingerie LLC the company doing business with the singer’s company was accused of “violating California law as well as misleading customers by automatically enlisting them in a VIP program that had recurring credit card charges.”
Santa Clara County deputy district attorney, Jennifer Deng said, “Consumers have a right to know upfront what they are paying for and how often. Businesses have a duty to be transparent about their automatic renewal charges.”
According to the lawsuit, customers claimed that their enrollment in the recurring VIP membership was fraudulent after they made purchases on the Savage X Fenty website which led up to charges on various credit cards even after the membership was canceled.
The attorney’s office revealed that Savage X Fenty has been cooperative with the investigation and has changed its website, renewal alerts, and its advertising methods.
As well as paying the fine, Savage X Fenty will also have to pay $150,000 in restitution to its VIP members, past and present in California, and $50,000 in investigative fees.
