Simone Biles Secures Spot on US Gymnastics Worlds Team
After only a few months since announcing her return to gymnastics, Simone Biles has secured her seat on the US gymnastics world team.
The gymnastics champion won the all-around competition at a qualifying event in Katy, Texas. This win not only confirmed her seat but she also has made history. Biles has now become the first U.S. woman to be selected for six World Championship squads.
She ended the event with 55.700 points. She beat out contenders Shilese Jones and Skye Blakely. Team USA's remaining five members will be announced after the second day of competition on Wednesday.
Biles shared the news on her Instagram story with the caption, " "Back to where it all started. See you soon, Belgium." Her Belgium reference was a nod to her first World Championships appearance at the Sportpaleis arena in Antwerp in 2013 when she won two gold medals.
