Run DMC, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg To Headline 'Hip Hop 50' Concert at Yankee Stadium
The 'Boogie Down' Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop, is set to host a mega celebration for the 50th year of hip-hop.
The star studded concert takes places at the Yankee Stadium on August 11. The line-up includes performances by New York City’s Run-DMC, Lil Kim, and Ghostface Killah. Other acts include west coast rappers Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube, Lil Wayne, Common, and Eve.
Run-DMC, the top-billed act, consists of Joseph 'Rev Run' Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Jason Mizell. The group hails from Queens and is known for hits such as “It’s Tricky” and its “Walk This Way” collaboration with Aerosmith.
“I am honored to hit the stage in the Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop, and celebrate all of my heroes,” Joseph “Run” Simmons said in a statement.
Lil’ Kim, Eve, Remy Ma and Trina will take part in the concert’s “Queens of Hip Hop” set.
The "Pillars of Hip Hop Set" includes DJ Kool Herc & Cindy Campbell, Grandmaster Caz, Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Roxanne Shante, Scorpio, and Sugar Hill Gang.
Tickets priced at $50 will be available on Thursday, June 8. General onsale begins Friday, June 9 at 10 a.m.
