Jeezy has officially announced his departure from Def Jam with a new album on the way. His new double album will be an independent project through his CTE New World imprint.
I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget will be released on Nov. 3. The first half of the double project, I Might Forgive will include production credits from Ricky Polo, ATL Jacob, Cubeatz, Hendrix and more. the second side of the album, But I Don’t Forget will be solely produced by production collective J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League.
According to a press release, the album will address the rapper’s “trauma, obstacles, and personal growth” and delve “into the topics and people that have shaped [Jeezy] both personally and professionally.”
“Musically, Jeezy continues this powerful message to his devoted fans, encouraging them to persevere on their own journeys and strive to be the best versions of themselves while using his life and experience as the foundation for healing,” the press release read.
Jeezy’s departure from Def Jam comes after nearly two decades. His first studio album, Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 was released via Def Jam South in 2005. Every album since has been released through Def Jam. His last album was released in 2020.
The rapper transitioned into the publishing world this past August with the release of his first book, Adversity for Sale: Ya Gotta Believe. It focused on his journey from getting out of the hood to becoming a musician and businessman.
